The Albanian American Islamic Center represents the largest congregation of Albanian Muslims in the United States. It is centrally located off I290 and St.Charles road serving all of the Chicagoland area in the beautiful town of Berleley IL. Was founded in the 1960’s by the first families that came to America for their children and the community to keep together Albanian heritage, and faith. These families bought the small school after the original masjid burned down in Summit. We have continued to grow, and update our beautiful building with a new prayer area, great hall for dinners, and cafe/library.
The community has steadily grown and now includes families from all across the United States and from around the world. Cultural and ethnic diversity is one of the greatest strengths of this congregation. Our community is very active in interfaith activities and strives to build bridges between people of all faiths and backgrounds. A myriad of educational programs geared towards families, the youth, married couples, and parents are delivered throughout the year.
School is a weekend school that provides education in Islamic Studies, Quran, and the Albanian language. It offers a unique service to students who attend local private or public schools. School is in session every Sunday during the school year.
Our youth program is very active in organizing gatherings or “halaqas”, camps, sporting events and many other social activities. Our youth also participate in interfaith, volunteer and various educational events. Please let us know if you have any recommendations on activities through our Facebook or Instagram.
We have a monthly meeting on the first Sunday of every month, anyone is welcome if they have any questions or recommendations. Board is made up of representatives from each village that has at least 30 members.
